To all Mastodon-admins: seems like there's an attack on all instances by troll accounts. Servers get slow because of it.
They use thousands of subdomains of activitypub-troll.cf. My 'pull' queues skyrocketed.

I now blocked the domain activitypub-troll.cf and all is back to normal. Please check if you're hit too.

Named one of my robo vacuums "The Hostage", because it is in the basement. (And does a great job, BTW)

I didn't really think that though, in terms of app notifications. 😁

Almost 180k new users joined #mastodon yesterday, a new record. This third #twitterMigration wave happened after Musk's Twitter 2.0 ultimatum to #Twitter workers. Each wave is stronger than the previous one. Here is my updated plot showing the three consecutive waves.

One thing is very clear to me today, as @atomicpoet put it well, we need to #FundtheFedi.

Today's surge of new users, maybe the largest wave yet, will seem insignificant in comparison to what transpires when Twitter has a full outage. Or goes broke.

We must build server & human infrastructure. Now. Stat.

We are only one terrible Elon Tweet or one sustained Twitter FailWhale away from experiencing traffic that essentially resembles a massive Denial of Service Attack.
